What To Wear
Clear guidance so you feel comfortable, move freely, and get the best from every class.
Adult Dance Classes
Choose outfits that move with you. Aim for comfort and confidence rather than formal wear.
Gentlemen — Clothing
- Comfortable trousers (chinos or smart trousers work better than tight jeans)
- Well‑fitting shirt or t‑shirt that allows free shoulder and arm movement
- Layers help regulate temperature as you warm up
Ladies — Clothing
- A dress, skirt, or comfortable trousers/leggings — choose flowing fabrics
- Tops that stay in place and allow a full range of motion
Gentlemen — Footwear
- Avoid trainers (rubber soles can stick and block movement)
- Smart shoes are fine; take care with brand new leather soles (can be slippery)
Ladies — Footwear
- A small, stable heel often helps posture and weight placement
- Avoid trainers or heavy rubber soles; pick something that can pivot

A note on dance shoes
You don't need dance shoes to start. After a few lessons, a proper pair can make a big difference — smoother movement, better support, and more precise weight placement.
Children's Classes
Prioritise safety and freedom of movement so children can focus on learning and having fun.
Clothing
- Leggings, tracksuit bottoms, vest tops, or t‑shirts
- Please avoid jeans as this can restrict movement.
Footwear
- Supportive trainers or pumps that allow the foot to flex and point
- No sandals, boots, or "dolly" shoes
Note: If you're unsure about footwear or clothing, bring what you have — your teacher will advise at your first session.
